Expression of Interest – Aftercare Operator
Unicorn Preparatory School is exploring the establishment of an Aftercare Programme to serve the needs of our pupils and families. We are therefore calling for applications from suitably qualified and motivated individuals or organisations who may wish to be considered to operate and manage this service on our premises. More and pertinent information will be shared and discussed at the first round of interviews for successful applicants.
The Aftercare Programme will play an important role in the life of our school community, providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for pupils beyond the formal school day.
We intend that the initial programme will commence in January 2026, with capacity for approximately 50–60 pupils.
We are particularly seeking applicants who can demonstrate the following:
Essential Requirements
Educational background: Applicants should have a relevant qualification and/or significant experience in education, childcare, youth development, or a related field.
Staffing: The Aftercare provider will be expected to recruit, appoint, and manage their own staff. Staff must meet appropriate standards of training, supervision, and safeguarding.
All staff must be suitably qualified in First Aid at a minimum Level 1
Programme delivery: The service should include a structured daily routine with provision for supervised homework, reading, mathematics support, and enrichment activities. Recreational and social opportunities must also be provided.
Age range: The programme must be suitable for pupils aged 5 to 13 years old, with flexible, age-appropriate, and stimulating supervision.
Meal provision: The Aftercare provider will be expected to supply a light lunch/snack each day for participating pupils.
Holiday care: The programme must also operate as a full-day service during school holidays, to accommodate the needs of working parents.
Business arrangement: The Aftercare operator will be required to enter into a formal rental agreement with the school for the use of facilities.
