Director of Sport

Unicorn Preparatory School seeks to appoint a Director of Sport responsible for the organisation and coordination of all sport-related activities on campus from Grade R to Grade 7. The successful candidate will work closely with the relevant Heads of Department to ensure the effective planning, implementation, and management of the school’s sporting programme.

Responsibilities will include the organisation of sporting fixtures and events, the management and coordination of sports staff and coaches, oversight of the sports calendar, and communication with parents and the broader school community regarding sporting activities.

The position will also include a teaching component (Life Orientation), initially within the Foundation Phase (Grade R to Grade 3). Support will be provided to assist with the administrative and organisational demands of the role.

Candidates should have a sound knowledge of primary school sporting codes and demonstrate the ability to organise and manage a comprehensive sports programme within a busy preparatory school environment. Previous experience in a similar leadership role will be advantageous.

The candidate should possess strong organisational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, together with a passion for developing sport within a primary school setting.

The suitable candidate must possess the following:

• A recognised teaching qualification

• SACE registration

• At least five years’ teaching experience

• Experience in the organisation and management of school sport (advantageous)

• Sound knowledge of the major primary school sporting codes

• The ability to coach and officiate school sport where required

• Strong administrative and organisational skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Good computer literacy

The ideal starting date for the successful candidate will be the beginning of Term 3 (01 July 2026), but this is negotiable.
