IQAA (Independent Quality Assurance Agency) - last completed in July 2019. https://iqaa.co.za/

The following are extracts taken from the final report of our 6 yearly IQAA (Independent Quality Assurance Agency) evaluation by Eugenie Rabe (Executive Director).

“Unicorn Prep inspires its boys and girls to live out the motto “Integrity.” – School Report.

“A positive attitude prevails at Unicorn Prep … professional and dedicated attitude of the teaching staff … the school is well equipped, and the classrooms are welcoming for the students ...” – Derek Reynish, Mentor.

From by Eugenie Rabe (Executive Director).

"I have read all the relevant documents and reports pertaining to the evaluation of Unicorn Prep and am left with the impression of a school where there is good solid teaching and learning, where the pupil body represents a wide spectrum of the nation, and where children are encouraged to behave with honour and good manners.

The findings from the opinion surveys are taken from a reasonably good sample of participants although the number of parent responses could have been better and it is a pity that only a very small percentage of parents made themselves available for the Focus Groups. Nevertheless, the pulse of the school taken through the surveys reveal largely positive scores and the Focus Groups were able to flesh out the findings."

Unicorn Preparatory finds itself in a similar situation to surrounding schools regarding social issues in the following areas:

"I think that it is fair to say that some of these issues - for example bullying and lack of parental support, - come up in the evaluation reports of very many of the schools where IQAA has been involved and they could in fact possibly be regarded as ongoing and in need of constant monitoring. The 2019 Recommendations are well documented with enough detail and realistic timelines and I wish you well as you continue to uphold the high standards already existing in your school.

One of the admirable Major Strengths of the school noted in the report is academics and all that supports the teachers in providing a good education – well-stocked library, IT, Robotics, external benchmarking, specialist learner support teachers and speech therapy where needed.

The 2019 Recommendations are well documented with enough detail and realistic timelines and I wish you well as you continue to uphold the high standards already existing in your school."
